'"The Black Square' continuously moves in our perception from a tabula rasa, a 'clean slate', that is, the emptiness of the vacuum, to the absurdity of the aesthetic, ideological and yes, religious burden. ... positioned in place of the icon 'The Black square' quite clearly talked about the creation of a new religion – the religion of modernism."

'Black square' in the 'red corner' of the Malevich exhibition '0.10'. 1915
My work is devoted to the theory of Malevich, his idea of the destruction of religious institutions. In fact, it is an image of what happened during the twentieth century. The influence of Christianity, including Catholicism (Malevich was born into a Catholic family), really began to decline. Modernism has destroyed traditional values. The Square acquired volume, it turned into a weighty volume object that fell from above, as the celestial body falls onto the ground.

In my opinion, after the fire in the Cathedral of Notre Dame, this work has become even more relevant. Modernity is rolling on old institutions, history is increasingly difficult to survive in contemporary conditions, even where it would seem to be surrounded by care and attention. What to say about the places of military conflicts and unprotected territories.
